The Battle of the Review Centers

Probably, one of the hardest thing for me this year is deciding which review center i should enroll to. This is crucial for us board exam takers. The way i see it, two things are at stake. Your money and your license. In our field, ECE (Electornics and Communications Engineering), there are only 3 review centers to choose from; review center P (Davao), x (Cebu) and y (Cebu). We had a chance to visit x and y during our stay in Cebu. I loved it because it give you awareness on what to expect during the board exams and other important things that i find useful. But what intrigued me the most during that time was when x started talking about y. And when we went to visit y, they too started talking about x. After that, i was convinced to enroll to y. Then December came. x visited our school like he said when we were in Cebu, he had a very long lecture and of course he is really good at marketing his business. Then x started to talk about y again. How (y) are lying about what they’ve been saying, x even said they are brainwashing us with their lies and showed us some proofs that can question the credibility of y. Of course y won’t go down without a fight! When it was y’s time to visit our school, he explained everything about this and that. And i believe y. I also believe that x, like what others say, is really good at convincing people to the point that it can really destroy a person as a whole. X is a prominent review center in engineering and they have been in the business for so many years while y is just starting. Basically, x have everything from facilities down to the materials. Btw, y is originally from x. Y left X becase of some issues and that’s where the whole bitterness came from. But y is one of the best reviewer that x had. But it didn’t end there. We just had our seminar about Robotics and Biomedical engineering and it was handled by x. I super love the seminar because i learned a lot. It was not just a seminar but it was a lecture. And those topics that i didn’t understand from my teachers, were taught to us detail by detail. It was a fun and informative discussion/lecture/seminar. His finale was of course you guess. All about y. And i was like, oh boy, here we go again. What he said was exactly what their boss said when he went to our school last December. And by the way that he was saying those things, i can really feel the tension. Me and my classmates we’re so tired of hearing bad comments and stories from both parties. It confused me a lot. Now i’m not so sure where i should take my review. Why can’t they resolve their issues privately? After all, they are all professionals and there is no doubt that they are really good at what they do. Its like table tennis. Both players are hitting each other through hitting the table (in this case the students). Feeding us with those stories is not really helping us decide. Because of this i think y is going to to our school too. I should prepare myself for another long talk of explaining and bitterness. I don’t really know anything about P. I heard they are also good but i’d have to hear what they have to say first. I think they have no plans to visit schools though. I heard they let students go to them not the other way around. Oh well. I don’t know. I am so confused. X extended their enrollment for early bird just this day after the seminar. I think it’s calling me. Oh no. |
