Study Habits
I just want to know, who do you guys study? What are your pre-study habits During my first 3 years in college, i was always complaining about why our teachers gives us nothing but 2-3 items of problem solving in our exams and quizzes. No objectives at all and i am not good with problems, that is one of my weakest points. Now that i am now in my 5th year in college and (hopefully my last year in college), our quizzes and exams are replaced by identifications, enumerations, essays, and still PROBLEM SOLVING. I should be happy right? But for some reason i find it really hard to study especially when it includes lots and lots of words! It makes me dizzy and sleepy! Just to fight feeling sleepy whenever i study, i have to write what i read in another piece of paper (thus the picture above). Reading just won’t work for me, i’ll forget it after an hour or so. Writing helps me understand and remember what i just read. I know its tiring but it helps me a lot Lol sorry for boring you out with school related posts. But its pretty much the scary thing in my life right now I just want to share something with you guys if ever you haven’t seen this movie trailer yet. It’s Daniel Radcliffe’s new movie! Its kind of interesting to see Daniel play other role than Harry Potter. I want to watch this, i don’t care if its a horror/suspense movie i just want to see how Daniel plays this role.

Before i went home, our teacher talked to the whole class about thinking about our purpose why we are going to school. Is it to have good grades, to please our parents or simply to learn? He was stressing out the quote “Passion for Learning“. He told us that going to school is not about having good grades, passing every subject or just for complying requirements. It is more than that. He was actually disappointed about our assignments because it was clear we did not really paid much attention and effort to it. For the sake of having something to pass, we wrote without even internalizing what it means. Then he told us stories on how it was very difficult for him to find a job because when he was still in college, they were trained how to have good grades not how to be a good engineer. And he doesn’t want that to happen to us. He’s actually one of the very few teachers that i respect the most because he cares about his students and he makes sure we understand everything before he ends his class. He is passionate about teaching and he is simply asking the same from us.
As students especially college students, we are always busy with chasing deadlines, reasearch, staying up very late studying, prjoects, quizzes, exams, reports, stress etc. We are so drowned with these things that we often forget why we are really doing it. We forget our purpose, the true reason. You don’t have to ace every test, you don’t have to memorize every line on the book, you don’t have to pass every subject, you don’t have to be on top always and you don’t have to stress and force yourself. Learn and of course add passion into it Most of the times i am like this. I read, then i try to understand it for the sake of having something to answer in exams and quizzes then after that, i forget about almost everything that i read.I may be able to graduate one day, pass the board exam maybe but what happens when i apply for a job that requires me to do something that’s completely new to me/something that i have no idea about/something i learned from school but totally forgot everything about it? It scares me to think about it. I don’t want to be a useless/jobless engineer. Maybe it’s time for me to have a passion for learning and loving my course. Maybe not in electronics because its just not ME. Maybe in communications i can try. Its somehow related to computers and networking anyways. How about you guys? lol sorry for making this post really long. I’m sure i bored you and i’m not quite sure if i explained myself well in this post.
